Class packs

Class packs for the students who don't want a membership

A class pack in GetGymPOS is a package with a fixed number of classes, the classes it is valid for, and a validity period (for example 10 classes in 60 days). Students buy it at the desk or online, and each visit is logged in their attendance so the desk can see what has been used.

Definition Class pack
A class pack (also called a class card or punch card) is a prepaid bundle of a set number of classes that must be used within a period, such as 10 classes in 60 days. It suits students who train a few times a month and would not use an unlimited membership.

Which pack sizes should I sell?

Most studios run three: a single drop-in, a 5-class pack and a 10-class pack, with a 20-class pack for regulars. Price the 10-pack so it is clearly cheaper per class than drop-ins but more expensive per class than unlimited; that ladder nudges regulars towards the membership.

Can a pack cover only some classes?

Yes. When you build the package you include the classes it covers, so a "Reformer 5-pack" can be separate from a "Mat 10-pack" with different prices.

What about drop-ins?

Sell a drop-in as a simple product at the till, with or without a member attached. It shows in sales reports beside packs and memberships.

Can students hold a pack and a membership?

Yes. A member can have a gym membership and a separate yoga pack at the same time, each on its own dates.

How it works

How does class packs work?

  1. Create the pack as a package

Name ("Yoga 10-pack"), price, duration (for example a 2-month validity) and the classes it covers.

  2. Sell it

At the desk, or from your auto-generated online store when the product is published there.

  3. Log each visit

Each time the student comes, the desk records the attendance against their profile.

  4. See what is left

Compare visits since the start date with the classes in the pack, and sell the next pack before the last class.

Who uses class packs?

  • Yoga and pilates

Most revenue comes from packs; memberships are for the dedicated few.

  • Boxing and HIIT

Packs for casual trainers, memberships for the 4-a-week crowd.

  • Martial arts

Trial packs for new families before they commit to monthly fees.

Straight talk

What it doesn't do (yet)

Saying no up front saves you a bad surprise after you switch.

  • Pack usage is read from the attendance log against the pack dates; there is no automatic "classes remaining" counter that blocks entry at zero.
  • Online class booking with seat limits is not part of the POS; the managed website can show the timetable and take enquiries.

Class packs: questions

What is a class pack?

A prepaid bundle of classes, such as 10 classes valid for 60 days. It is the most common way yoga, pilates and boxing studios sell to students who come once or twice a week.

How do I set an expiry on a class pack?

Give the package a duration when you create it. The subscription created at sale has a start and end date, and the pack is valid between them.

Can I sell packs online?

Yes. Packs are products, and products you publish appear on your auto-generated online store.

Can different classes have different packs?

Yes. Include only the relevant classes when building each package, and price them separately.

How does the desk know how many classes are left?

Each visit is logged in the member's attendance. The desk compares visits since the pack started with the pack size. Many studios also note the count on the receipt.

Can I extend an expired pack as a goodwill gesture?

Yes. Adjust the subscription end date on the member profile; the change is recorded.

Can trainers earn commission on pack sales?

Yes. Assign the trainer as the commission agent on the sale; see trainer commission.

Do packs work with reward points?

Yes. If reward points are on, pack purchases earn points like any other sale.
