Trainer commission

Personal trainer commission, calculated as you sell

In GetGymPOS each trainer can be a commission agent with their own percentage. When they sell a PT package, membership or product, the sale is tagged to them, and commission is calculated either on the invoice value or only on payments actually received. The sales representative report totals it for any period.

Definition Sales commission agent
A commission agent is a person who earns a percentage of the sales assigned to them. In GetGymPOS a trainer, salesperson or front-desk member can be set as an agent with a percentage, and every sale assigned to them adds to their commission total for the period.

How it works

How does trainer commission work?

  1. Turn on commission

Choose how agents are picked: the logged-in user, a choice from the staff list, or a separate agents list.

  2. Set each trainer's rate

Enter a percentage per trainer, for example 10% for PT packages.

  3. Tag the sale

At the till, the trainer who made the sale is attached to the invoice.

  4. Run the report

The sales representative report shows each trainer's sales and commission for the dates you choose.

  5. Pay it

Record it as an expense, or let HRM payroll add it to the trainer's pay.

Invoice value or payments received: which should I use?

If members pay PT in instalments, "payments received" is fairer: the trainer earns on money that actually came in, and part-payments pay part-commission. "Invoice value" is simpler if PT is always paid up front.

Is tax included in commission?

No. Commission is calculated without tax or shipping, so a 5% VAT in Dubai or sales tax in the US never inflates a trainer's payout.

How does commission reach payroll?

With the HRM module, commission can be added to payroll as a pay component, alongside attendance and leave. Or pay it separately and record it as an expense.

Can front-desk staff earn on retail?

Yes. Any user can be an agent. Some gyms pay the desk a small percentage on supplement sales to keep the fridge moving.

Straight talk

What it doesn't do (yet)

Saying no up front saves you a bad surprise after you switch.

  • One commission percentage per agent; tiered or per-product commission rates are worked around by using separate agent entries or adjusting at payout.
  • Commission is not paid out by GetGymPOS; you pay trainers through your bank or payroll.

Trainer commission: questions

How do gyms usually pay personal trainers?

Most use a percentage of PT sales, sometimes on top of a base wage. GetGymPOS calculates the percentage part automatically from tagged sales.

Can each trainer have a different commission rate?

Yes. The percentage is set per trainer.

Does commission include VAT or sales tax?

No. It is calculated without tax or shipping.

What if a member pays for PT in instalments?

Use the "payments received" method, so commission accrues as the instalments come in.

Can trainers see their own commission?

Give trainers a limited role so they can view their own sales report without access to other trainers' figures or settings.

Can commission go into payroll?

Yes, with HRM on the Club and Multi-Club plans, commission can be added to payroll as a component.

Can I pay commission on memberships and retail too?

Yes. Commission applies to any sale assigned to the agent: PT, memberships, packs or products.

Which plan includes trainer commission?

Club and Multi-Club. See pricing.
